PRIDE – a Poem

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom” (Proverbs 11:2 NIV).

Being vengeful –
It leads to becoming sinful.

Feeling irritated? Stop and pray!
Provoked? Take heed, walk away!
Do not delay!

When anger doesn’t want to cease,
Exchange it for gentleness, patience, and peace.

Sarcasm, slander, and gossiping
Tears-down, divides, and causes quarreling! 

Lack of self-control
Can damage the soul

Spitefulness and unforgiveness
Maliciousness and fictitiousness
It is venomous and poisonous!

Pride makes you fumble, stumble, and fall!
Trade it for humility, so you can stand tall!

When you won’t budge,
And you hold a grudge,
Remember:
Bitterness makes you sour, and resentment isn’t sweet!
Lay it ALL down at Jesus’ feet!


“But he gives us more grace. That is why scripture says, God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble” (James 4:6 NIV).
