Confess and Repent
“If we say, “We have no sin,” we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8 CSB).
Confess and Repent
“Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has set a day when he is going to judge the world in righteousness by the man he has appointed. He has provided proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead” (Acts 17:30-31 CSB).
Jesus was crucified on a cross, died, was buried, and three days later God raised Jesus from the dead. Jesus is alive and He will return. He will righteously and justly judge all people, the living and the dead. God does not want anyone to parish, but desires for everyone to repent.
Are you ready to stand before Jesus?
Have you accepted and received Him as LORD of your life and Savior of your soul?
Have you confessed your sins and repented?
The time of His return is drawing near…
Confession of Sin:
When you come to Jesus and confess your sin, you are acknowledging to God and agreeing with Him, that what He calls sin, is sin. All people everywhere need forgiveness for the sin in their life, thoughts, and actions. We all have committed sin against Him.
“If we say, “We have no sin,” we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8 CSB).
God gives mercy, grace, and forgiveness when we humble ourselves before Him and confess that we are sinners and in need of Jesus to be our Savior. By God’s grace we can receive His mercy and be cleansed and forgiven through the blood of Jesus.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9 CSB).
Repentance of Sin:
“No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all perish as well” (Luke 13:3 CSB).
“Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near!” (Matthew 3:2 CSB).
“Therefore, repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out” (Acts 3:19 CSB).
Repentance is a decision of your heart and mind to turn away from your sin. It is a deliberate inner resolve and determination to obey and submit to God and His will for your life.
When you believe on the LORD Jesus and receive Him as your Savior, you make Him the LORD of your life. You submit to Him and deny yourself. Resolve to turn away from anything and everything that would try and pull you away from fellowship with Him. Your relationship with Him takes top priority. Denying and laying down your will and taking up and submitting to His will.
God redeems us through the blood of Jesus, but we are still responsible for turning away from the sin that separates us from God.
God is Holy and does not and will not tolerate sin.
When we submit to God and turn away from our sinful desires, He will strengthen and help us, through the Holy Spirit, to obey Him.
An Unrepentant Heart will bring God’s Wrath:
“Or do you despise the riches of his kindness, restraint, and patience, not recognizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead to repentance?
Because of your hardened and unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgement is revealed.
He will repay each one according to his works: eternal life to those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality;
But wrath and anger to those who are self-seeking and disobey the truth while obeying unrighteousness” (Romans 2: 4-8 CSB).
WE are responsible to turn away (repent) from a disobedient and sinful lifestyle.
Jesus said clearly:
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:15 CSB).
Believe on the LORD Jesus, receive His sacrifice for your sin. He died in your place, so that you can be forgiven and redeemed from the kingdom of darkness and transferred into His Kingdom of light! He paid the full price for your sins and made a way for you to be reconciled back in relationship with God! Believe and Repent!
And in Luke 9:23 Jesus said:
“If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
Everyday we must make the decision to deny ourselves. Our self-centered, self-seeking ways. We must turn away from our sinful, fleshly desires and yield to the Holy Spirit. We must repent, turn away from the sins that can easily entangle us, and follow Jesus. Making Him, and His ways and His will, our heart’s desire.
“Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:1-2 CSB).
God made a way for us to be forgiven and reconciled to him, through the blood of Jesus sacrificed and poured out on our behalf. Everyone who accepts and follows Jesus can be free from the penalty of sin. However, it is our responsibility to come to Jesus in faith to be saved; and it is our responsibility to repent and obey to continue in fellowship with God.
If you have not confessed your sin to God nor repented, that is - having an external change of behavior and internal change of thought about your sinful ways and life, it is not too late to make that change. Jesus has not yet returned, but He will one day soon.
God is patiently waiting for all to come to repentance.
“As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be zealous and repent” (Revelation 3:19 CSB).
Jesus loves You!
“Seek the Lord while he may be found; Call upon Him while He is near” (Isaiah 55:6).
Shalom
